In British Columbia a significant grassroots
movement has taken hold across the north. Initially started because of the LNG Canada and Coastal Gas Link projects, northern citizens have stepped up to help new resource opportunities arrive in their communities. Under the registered name The North Matters, community leaders in Kitimat, Prince Rupert, Quesnel, and the Bulkley Valley have joined forces with citizen groups in the natural gas producing regions of B.C. to highlight benefits of resource development. To date the growth has been organic and catching on fast. More communities like Terrace, Kamloops, Fort Nelson and Fort St. John are seeing the result of The North Matters leadership presence and are seeking to join.
